Assignment 2: Finding a "lost" ID

  1. I think the video worked the most effective to get the point across. The words of emotions is a much more abstract way of doing the assignment, but its still interesting to know the emotions that go with the video. The comic just reiterates what happened in the video.

  2. I like how you did all different 'mediums' for each. I liked the first one, the actual video, the best, because you can tell her frustration from losing her ID, whereas, in the other two, written words don't really express it. The second one I find not really a story line, but an emotion line.. By watching the video first you know what the 'emotion line' is talking about. Good job experimenting!

  3. I like that the ways in which you did the three narratives were so varied. I think the cartoon was the most effective. Was she supposed to have her ID in her hand while she was looking in the video. I couldn't tell if she did or not, so a shot to make that more clear would be good.

  4. I like how you portrayed the information three different ways, through a video, drawing, words. I think it would have been helpful if the video was a little longer or had more of a scene going on. Maybe you could have added where you were going or why you needed it, gave it more of a story.

  5. The comic was my favorite approach toward the story because of the interesting perspective from the hands. The story line was more clear in the video and the comic, but the word collage emulated the specific aspect of emotion within the story. The three interpretations used a very good variety of media to tell the same story.

  6. Its cute because it shows your forgetful side of your personality. The video is short, simple and direct, same with the comic strip. However I think the second narrative with the image is a bit weak. If it was executed in a different way, it could have been stronger. The only problem is that this is sort of a recycled idea from your first introduction so it lacks a bit creativity.

  7. I appreciate the experiment with just using words/emotions, but I think this could be stronger if presented in some kind of order or emphasis (beyond different fonts). The comic and the video follow a similar structure, although the comic interrupts it with the “look down” panels—I think this could be extends and repeated even more. What I do find interesting is the intense moment that you are exploring—the event doesn’t happen over a long period of time—perhaps some of those emotions could be brought out by extending that moment in time, building suspension longer.

  8. there's a good sense of urgency here. but the video seems kind of last minute, because I feel that you could have done a lot more. the first thing i noticed was the reflection of the person filming you in the window. you can change the angle, and i think it'd be interesting to do some close up shots of you--freaking out--and maybe your pocket with your ID.

in the text one, you should put thoughtlessness' to keep everything a noun in the picture. it's a nice way to convey your emotions though.

And in the illustration, i think the ID should be shown in the pocket, not the hand. it makes it seem like since the focus is on your hand holding the ID card, that you already found it. more consistency--you find it in your pocket at the end.
